Working with strict brand guidelines and content provided by the editor, it was my job to piece together a magazine—cover to cover—once a month. Working on strict deadlines and with member-submitted photography is often a challenge. Figuring out how to place content on pages that must be in increments of four is like putting together a puzzle. In addition to a print magazine, all content is added to the website, njea.org, a Wordpress hosted site, of which I managed.
Working on a magazine has opened doors to so many incredible opportunities. Often times, I was sent out as the photographer to big events in New Jersey to publish in the magazine. I was able to meet Governor Phil Murphy and take his photo. I’ve been able to travel throughout the state to take pictures at rallies, press conferences and so many other great events. Below are my personal favorite articles and layouts throughout the years I held the title of lead layout artist of the publication.
